Body Oils With Essential Oils

Body oils have been a longtime favorite here at Edens Garden. They are concentrated, long-lasting and effective moisturizers, providing beautiful aromas, silky texture and some serious skin benefits. It’s safe to say we’re obsessed, which is why we’ve compiled this comprehensive guide to EG Body Oils – so you can fall in love just like we did! Below are a few things you may not know about body oils.

1. They’ve been used for centuries

Plant-based oils have been used as body and face oils for millenia. Ancient Egyptians often lathered themselves in olive, fenugreek and sesame oils, among others, to nourish their skin and assist in bathing. Roman philosopher Pliny the Elder gave glowing reviews to almond oil for its ability to reduce wrinkles and improve overall complexion. In 1600s Italy, avocado and macadamia nut oils were combined to make a highly sought-after body oil.

2. They are free of toxins and 100% natural

Conventional lotions are made from a combination of oil and water, which makes adding a preservative necessary. Many body oils in the marketplace are also laden with mineral oil, silicones and colorants. We prefer to keep things simple and natural by using only carrier oils, essential oils, and vitamin E. They are free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, fillers, preservatives, fragrances and any other synthetics. Edens Garden never tests on animals and body oils are packaged in recyclable glass.

3. They are great for the skin

In our quest to make the perfect body oil, we needed to combine carrier oils that would go on light, form a protective barrier to the skin, restore elasticity and nourish skin cells. We landed on our version of a perfect body oil base consisting of Camellia Seed oil, Apricot Kernel oil, Coconut oil, Safflower oil and Vitamin E.

High in rich fatty acids Omega 3 and 6, Camellia naturally gives skin a luminous new glow. Its slightly astringent and non-clogging, making it a perfect companion for oily skin. Light, soothing, and protective, Apricot Kernel oil has a rich oleic acid and vitamin E content, also boasting a high level of vitamin B-17. Similar to coconut oil, apricot is absorbent and non-greasy. Safflower oil is silky and smooth, leaving behind soft skin. High in linoleic acid, it helps calm skin irritation and flakiness. Vitamin E is added for its antioxidant powers and skin nourishing properties.

4. They contain your favorite essential oils

Our body oil line currently consists of 12 varieties containing 100% pure essential oils. Ranging from floral to woodsy, our body oil selection has a little something for everyone.

Cedarwood Spruce: The aroma captures the majestic wonder of towering trees and starlit skies. Apply Cedarwood Spruce body oil for a skin hydration boost and allow Silver Fir and Spruce essential oils to encourage oxygen flow in the body, prompting the regeneration of skin cells.

A skin-softening body oil, Vanilla Ylang Ylang absorbs deeply for complete rehydration while harnessing the power of Ylang Ylang for energizing the body and boosting mental clarity.

XOXO: This body oil is brimming with all-natural firming and smoothing nutrients. Its essential oils work together to polish the outer layers of your skin while adding an elegant aroma. Detoxify your skin with XOXO body oil’s remarkable antioxidant (thanks to Clove and Cinnamon) or add it to a romantic body massage.

Its effective antioxidant ingredients can help fade the appearance of scars and imperfections. Its aroma contains invigorating citrus with grassy, earthy components.

5. They are multi-purpose

If you thought that body oils were only for the body, then think again! We always recommend applying your body oil for your entire body (especially right after showering when your skin is still slightly damp). We have, however, found some remarkable uses that will have you reaching for your body oil bottle more often than you might think.

Makeup Brush Cleaner - Every month, make a habit of refreshing your brushes by combining 2 tbsp of body oil and 2 tbsp of pure lemon juice. Simply massage the mixture in your brushes and rinse with warm water. Place on a clean towel to dry. You’ll be impressed with how soft your brushes feel.

Frizz Control - Rub a dime-sized amount of body oil into your palms and smooth on from mid-length to your ends. If you’re worried about oily hair, body oil can actually help prevent greasiness when used regularly.

Chest Balm- If you’re feeling congested and need to open up the airways, combine 2 tbsp Good Night body oil, 2 drops Eucalyptus essential oil, 1 drop Peppermint essential oil and gently massage into your chest before bedtime.

Cuticle Care - With natural ingredients like vitamin E and Camellia Seed, our body oils can help strengthen and heal your nails. Before you go to sleep, apply a body oil to the base of your nails.

Get Gum Out Of Hair - Apply a copious amount of oil to the hair and gum, pulling the oil through your hair until the gum loosens from your hair.

Sugar Scrub - Combine ¼ cup of body oil with  ¼ cup of white or brown sugar. Transfer to an airtight jar. While showering or bathing, take a large spoonful of the sugar scrub and rub onto dry skin, cellulite, or all over for exfoliation.

Massage - Whether it’s for muscle aches or detox, body oils make remarkable massage oils. Use during a romantic night in, or massage into aching joints as needed.

Face Oil - Packed with anti-aging and skin nourishing components, our body oils can do wonders for the face. Since the essential oils are so potent, we recommend weekly use rather than daily use. You may also want to spot test if you have sensitive skin and avoid the areas around the eyes.

Layer Aroma - Apply your body oil with its corresponding EG Natural Perfume, or hey, even a Natural Deodorant. The enticing aroma will follow you all day and help you to create a signature scent.

Emotional Support - Even if you don’t have skin care on your mind, body oils are the perfect way to get a quick fix of emotionally therapeutic essential oils. Simply rub your favorite body oil in your palms and inhale when overwhelmed or feeling down. You can also apply to the pulse points in your neck for an aroma that stays close by.

BODY OIL Q & A

1. Which body oils can I use on my kids?

Since we enrich our lives with the benefits of essential oils and the nourishment of body oils, why not our kids? Children aged 2+ can safely enjoy our Cedarwood Spruce body oil, Good Night body oil, Yuzu Cannabliss body oil, Vanilla Sandalwood body oil and Lavender Magnolia body oil.

2. Can I wear body oils in the sun?

Many of our body oils contain phototoxic oils that are diluted enough that they are safe for sun exposure. We do, however, prefer to err on the side of caution as some people may be more sensitive than others. If you plan on spending a long time in the sun, we would recommend sticking to the body oils that do not contain any phototoxic essential oils. These sun-safe body oils include Vanilla Ylang Ylang body oil, Cedarwood Spruce body oil, Vanilla Sandalwood body oil and XOXO body oil.

3. Does the body oil expire?

Thanks to the addition of Vitamin E, our carrier oils and essential oils can last a lot longer before oxidation sets in. Expect your body oils to last a year on the shelf, though we suspect they’ll be used up by then!

4. Do body oils need to be refrigerated?

It’s not necessary, but our body oils would benefit from cool refrigeration. If you don’t think you’ll be using up your body oil within a year, keep it in the fridge for as extended a life as possible. Otherwise, feel free to show off your body oil on your bathroom counter.

5. Can I use body oil to soothe eczema/psoriasis/dermatitis?

Many have! While much can be said for the soothing properties of essential and carrier oils, it should also be noted that some things are better left to professionals. Our body oils can be a perfect solution to extremely dry, cracked skin, but others may find that it exacerbates these symptoms. Only you and your doctor can know what’s best for your condition, so feel free to give them a try. You may just find the relief you’re looking for.

Hi Derek! You can, though it would likely be less effective than using deodorant,.

Can you use the body oil directly under armpits, without the use of a deodorant stick, just using the oil only?
