DIY Garbage Disposal Bombs

Spring is around the corner, but that doesn’t mean you have to wait to amp up your cleaning routine! This time of year, we’re focusing on all the nooks and crannies at EG — even down to the garbage disposal. In fact, one way we're giving our home a floor-to-ceiling refresh is by making our trusty Garbage Disposal Bombs. Easy to make, and even easier to use, this little cleaner will have your disposal sparkling in no time.

What You Need

1 cup Baking soda

½ cup Citric acid

40 ml Sunflower carrier oil

2.5 ml Citrus Cream

How To

First, combine baking soda and citric acid. In a separate bowl, stir Citrus Cream into Sunflower carrier oil. Then, combine dry and wet ingredients until the mixture is damp and holds together. Pack the mixture into a tablespoon and set the garbage disposal bombs out to harden on a piece of parchment. Allow the disposal bombs to harden overnight, then transfer to a container.

To use, simply drop 1-2 disposal bombs into your garbage disposal. Pour two cups of hot water down the garbage disposal. Wait five minutes before running cold water down the garbage disposal, then turn the disposal on. Voila! Your garbage disposal is now fresh, clean and ready for optimal disposing.

I don’t have a garbage disposal (other than my husband :-). Is it ok to just use these in my kitchen drains to freshen them up? Sometimes they do have an odor.
