DIY Concealer Color Corrector With Essential Oils

Concealers and color correctors can reduce the look of blemishes, bruises, birthmarks and dark spots while revealing a brighter, more even complexion. Common color correctors come in colors like green, red and orange.

Though it may seem counterintuitive to apply brightly colored makeup to cover up skin spots, certain colors can help reduce the appearance of skin spots. Concealers, on the other hand, provide fuller coverage, unlike color correctors which cover just spots and blemishes.

Unfortunately, conventional color correctors and concealers, like most cosmetics, contain synthetic, unnatural ingredients. These products can also put a dent in your budget, so we at EG propose another idea: making your own with natural, low-cost ingredients.

Choosing a color

  1. Green: Reduces redness, the appearance of birthmarks and rashes.
  2. Red & orange: Reduces the appearance of dark spots, such as under the eyes, and bruises.
  3. Pink: Reveals glowing, bright skin.

For the concealer, choose a color that matches your foundation. You may have to play around with different colorants before you find the one that matches your skin color best. There are many different types of colorants, and for this recipe, we've chosen to use mica powders that are eye safe. You can also try ingredients like powders, clays, oxides and pigments to achieve your desired colors.

What you need

1 oz Fenugreek

6 drops Age Defy

1 Tbsp Shea butter

1 Tbsp Soy wax

1 Tbsp Mica powder

Push-up tubes

How to

Yield: 2.5 oz of product/ (2) 1.25 oz tubes

Melt soy wax and shea butter in a double boiler. Stir in Fenugreek and the mica powder of your choosing until the mixture is homogeneous. Remove from heat and add 6 drops Age Defy. Transfer to a container, and allow to cool. Roll over spots in need of concealing or color correction. Blend in and cover with foundation.
